Announcements for Week Ending September 27, 2009

The Barnabas/Fellowship Luncheon will take place Monday, September 28th at 11:30 am in the Parish Center. Come savor a delicious lunch (catered by EnJoy Cooking) for $10. To make your reservation, please sign up on the sheets located at the back of church. Bring a Friend!

Friday, October 2nd is Grandparent’s Day at St. Michael’s Parish Day School. The event is from 8 AM until 11 AM and involves being a surrogate grandparent for a child that does not have a grandparent attending on that day. There is an assembly and then visit the child’s classroom. There is a sign up sheet in the back of church for this event and also the schedule for the morning. Make a child happy – be a grandparent for a few hours.

The September issue of The Messenger is now available. See the sidebar for downloadable copies of The Messenger in PDF format! Please submit your article for the August issue to church@stmichael.net or the church office.

Lectionary Bible Study - Save the date! Wednesday, October 7th at 10:00 AM is the beginning of another opportunity to attend the Lectionary Bible Study facilitated by Peter Schmidt. Currently the Lectionary Study meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM. To accommodate those who do not wish to be out in the evening, Peter has graciously offered a second study on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM. Won’t you join us?

St. Michael's has a Facebook group! If you or a loved one are on Facebook, please consider joining. Help us connect with online-savvy St. Michael's parishioners!

Keep up with the parish and Fr. Smith on Twitter.com. Sign-up and then “follow” Fr. Smith (wa7iic) and the activities of our parish (smallangels). Or just watch the twitter feed on the sidebar of this very page! Feel connected, involved, and able to pray for the ministry of our parish in real time. Check it out!

Opportunities for Giving

Casa Maria will meet at 6PM this Friday, September 25th in the Parish Center. We make 500 lunches for distribution to the poor, homeless, and out of work people in our community. Your help is needed to prepare sack lunches; volunteers can always use a few “eggstra” hands and as always “shelled” hard boiled eggs. Bring a dozen, (or two) hard-boiled (and shelled) eggs for the egg salad sandwiches. Join us for fellowship and to help with this good work.

USED CELL PHONE COLLECTION & FUNDRAISER! This summer our church is participating in a cell phone fundraising drive. There is nothing for you to buy or sell to participate. We simply ask that you donate your extra inactive cell phones to our drive. This drive will benefit your family, your church, and the environment by keeping harmful materials the phone contain out of our landfill. The collection box is in the back of church. A Tax Deductible Receipt for you is located on the box.

FOOD PANTRY - We are always in need of:
  • Canned fruit
  • Juices
  • Small boxes of cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Evaporated milk
  • tuna
  • crackers
  • snacks
We are also in need of plastic bags in which to place the food. We thank you for your continued generosity.
