Announcements for Week Ending December 4th, 2005

MIF Series - Adult Forum continues in the Parish Center, Sundays from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. The next topic, on Sunday, December 4th, is "Ethics After Easter," presented by Karl MacOmber. All are welcome.

Calling Parish artists and groups to participate in our upcoming Advent Bazaar, Sunday, December 4th. Call Ila for more information.

Calling those parishioners who may be interested in serving as Vestry members - contact Karl MacOmber or the church office for more information.

2006 Ordo Kalendars are available on the ushers' cabinet. A donation of $3.00 per calendar is requested to cover handling charges. Place donation envelope in the collection basket, or bring to the church office.

Next ECW meeting Wednesday, December 14th. This meeting will include a cookie exchange (please bring 60 of one of your favorite cookies to share) and a lunch served by Joy Miller of EnJoy Cooking (cost $5.00 per person). Sign-up sheet is located on the ushers' cabinet. For luncheon reservations, contact ECW Chair Dolores Braren; for cookie exchange questions, contact Bonnie Edwards.

Angel TreeIt's Angel Tree time again! Starting the first Sunday in Advent, a Christmas tree in the back of the church will have angels hanging on its branches. This year, we have 35 children from Angel Tree, including prisoners' children who have been in Arizona as a result of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. There are requess for gift cards from local stores so that children can choose something they want. If you buy clothing, please include the gift receipt so that exchanges can be made. Please sign the list on the table at the back of the church so that I know wgo has taken each child's tag. We are asking you to bring your gifts, unwrapped, to the church office or to the tree on Sundays before or after Mass. The Angel Tree program is an important part of St. Michael's ministry for children of prisoners. For additional information, please call Ancelyn Smith.

A Support Group, formed for those who have experienced a loss at sometime, meets monthly. Next meeting Monday, December 12, at noon, at the City Grill restaurant located at 6464 E. Tanque Verde Road. Please call Peggy Speese for reservations at least three days prior to the meeting.

Parishioner D.J. Smith's book signing takes place Friday, November 25th,
1 PM to 3 PM, at Sahuaro West Park, 2700 N Kinney Road (north of Ajo Road). Come help launch D.J,'s Dr. Bird to the Rescue children's book. Refreshments will be served.

Announcements (Part One) for Thanksgiving Week 2005

Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24th, there will be a Mass at 9:00 AM. Come and join in worshipping Almighty God and giving thanks for his mercy and our blessings. All parishioners are invited to bring fresh flowers for the altar as a symbol of our gratefulness.

Parish Office is close on Thanksgiving and on Friday, November 24th and 25th.
The clergy and staff wish you and your family a Blessed Thanksgiving!

Anglican Cycle of Prayer - let us give thanks for the Diocese of Torit (The Sudan), Wilson Arop Ogwok, and its people and clergy.

Diocese Of Arizona Cycle Of Prayer - let us pray and give thanks for Christ Church of the Ascension, Paradise Valley, its clergy and parishioners.

Just stop in the church office for your Angel Food.. Share the goodness and sweetness of St. Michael and All Angels Church!

Casa Maria Volunteers will meet this Friday,
November 25th, at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center to preparesack lunches forthose in need. Come help during this Thanksgiving weekend. Please bring shelled hard-boiled eggs. Join with St. Michael's volunteers for fellowship and to help with this much-needed good work.

Announcements for Week Ending November 20th, 2005

November 20th is Stewardship Sunday.

MIF Series - Adult Forum continues in the Parish Center, Sundays from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. The next topic, on Sunday, November 20th, is "Opening the Prayer Book," presented by Paulette O'Malley. All are welcome.

Vestry Meeting this Tuesday, November 15th, starting at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center. All parishioners are invited to attend this important parish function.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW) Meeting this Wednesday, November 16th, starting at 10:00 AM in the Parish Center. All women are invited to attend.

Social Concerns Meeting this Sunday, November 20th, following at 10:00 AM Mass in the Parish Center. All are invited to attend.

Angel Food Candy 2005. Our wonderful English Toffee dipped in chocolate, rolled in toasted macadamia nuts and macaroon coconut, then boxed in a beautiful red and gold metallic printed gift box, is still available. Order forms are on the ushers' cabinet and in church office. Share the goodness and sweetness of St. Michael and All Angels Church while supporting St. Michael's Church and school programs.

Volunteers are needed to sort food and stock shelves
on Monday, November 21st, at 9:00 AM here at St. Michael's. Our Parish Day School's annual food drive helps keep the food pantry stocked until spring. Please call Shigeko or Lynette with questions or to volunteer.

U of A Campus Christian Center's Thanksgiving Dinner is in need of three cooked, unstuffed turkeys 12 pounds or larger at the center by 2:00 PM, Friday, November 18th. Consider helping to share a little American hospitality with international visitors. If you can help, calle Barbara Goldschmid.

The Altar Guild will not meet this Saturday, November 12th, but will instead meet as a group on Saturday, November 26th, to prepare the Church for Advent. Please mark your calendars.

United Thank Offering (UTO) continues year round
- every day! The mission of United Thanks Offering is to invite people to offer daily thanks to God. The discipline starts at home by dropping cins into a special blue box container for each thanksgiving offered. Bring your UTO check or currency offering to the Church this Sunday, November 13th - UTO Sunday.

lu shot clinic at the Parish Day School has been canceled.

Just Coffee - would you volunteer to sell organic coffee, fair-traded from Chiapas, once or twice a month, at coffee hour after the Mass you usually attend? The growers' cooperative and the roaster benefit; have an opportunity to survive in their own country. Call Peggy or Ila if you can help.

lu shots will be available at the Parish Day School - scheduled date in November to be announced. The shots will be administered from 11 AM to 2 PM. Cost is $25 per person, with rebates from providers HealthNet, AEtna Insurance, and Medicare. Please call the church office by Friday, October 28th if interested in particpating.
