Holy Week and Easter Schedule 2017



Palm Sunday, April 9
The Liturgy of the Palms will precede all Masses at the usual time.
The Passion Gospel will be sung at the High Mass.

Holy Monday, April 10
6:30 PM: Low Mass

Holy Tuesday, April 11
6:30 PM: Low Mass

Holy Wednesday, April 12
12:10 PM:  Low Mass (no anointing)

Maundy Thursday, April 13
6:30 PM:  Solemn Mass with Foot washing and Procession to the Altar of Repose.
Agápe Supper follows the Mass.
Stripping of the Altar follows the Agape Supper.
The Watch with the Blessed Sacrament follows until Morning Prayer on Good Friday.

Good Friday, April 14
12:10 PM: Stations of the Cross
6:30 PM: Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday
The Passion According to John will be sung.
Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament.

Holy Saturday, April 15
Stations of the Cross at the Immaculate Heart Novitiate (details TBA).
7:30 PM: The Great Vigil of Easter
Holy Baptism will be administered to Erin McMullen.
The First Eucharist of Easter.

Easter Day, April 16
7:45, 9:00, 10:15, 12:30 Masses as usual.
No 5:00 pm Mass will be offered.

Confession available every Saturday in Lent
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will now be available every Saturday until April 8, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.  The confessional is located to the right, just inside the church doors.  On April 1, the confessor will be Fr. Jorge Sotelo, who will hear confessions in Spanish or English.  On April 8, the confessor will be Br. Dave Hedges, who will hear confessions in English.

Terri Smith, spouse of St. Michael’s Rector Emeritus The Rev. John R. Smith, visits Tucson briefly and will share personal insights and St. Michael’s Guatemala Project updates.Now resident in Antigua Guatemala, the Smiths help with Legado Elisabet, a Project fund for children; and Fr. Smith is Vicar of St. Alban Episcopal Mission. Expect fresh perspectives from Terri, Project information from the Coordinator, good cheer, eclectic refreshments, limited sale of exceptional Maya textiles, and photos, including two 1980 photographs on sale. After the general program, people interested in joining summer teams will have a focus meeting while others interact informally with Terri. Free. Donations welcomed.

The Annual Meeting of the Parish will be held Sunday, January 29. One Mass will be offered at 9:30 AM. Brunch and the business meeting will follow the Mass in the Smith Parish Center. We will elect new Vestry members and Convention delegates. Please make a special point of attending this important event.
