Announcements through March 24th

ECW women will meet this Wednesday, March 20 in the Parish Center at 10:30 AM. All ladies of the parish are considered members of Episcopal Church Women and are invited to attend.

Taize Service of Meditation will take place this Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 6:45 pm in church. All are invited to take forty-five minutes out of our busy-ness and spend some time in meditation as we are drawing close to Holy Week. 

The Last Lenten Soup Supper will be held Wednesday during Lent at 6:30 PM at the House of Prayer. We will be viewing the movie “The Passion of Christ” by Mel Gibson.
You are invited for a simple soup supper and then watch segments of the film discussing Jesus response to the violence done to him. The sessions are preceded by Evening Prayer at 6 PM.

COLLECTION FOR EASTER FLOWERS - please include your donation in the envelope in your pledge card box or make certain your donation is clearly marked for “flowers” and place in the offering basket.

Please note: The Saint Jerome Writing Group will now meet twice monthly, that is on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. The March meetings will be on the 12th and 26th in the Womble Library at 10AM.


St. Michael’s Guatemala Project has issued its “Call for Summer Team Volunteers” and is now accepting applications. Contact Ila Abernathy, 623-3063, ilaa@mindspring.com , for details. Basic information is on the table in the back of church. We are also hoping to add an option for a shorter-term, less wildly rigorous delegation in this, our 29th year of association with rural Maya in Guatemala.  Contact Ila if you are interested in being part of a delegation.

A great site, Unapologetically Episcopalian, will send you daily the bios and collects from the new Holy Men, Holy Women adjunct to the Prayer Book as well as links to You tube performances of hymns and anthems by church and college choirs...The website of The Society of Saint John the Evangelist offers daily meditations for Lent.......It is not too late to join the Forward Movement's instructive site of church history. At www.lentmadness.org you learn about two saints daily and get to vote for one each weekday.

Two people are needed at each half hour for the Watch before the Altar of Repose. The Sign-up sheet is in the back of the church. Please indicate the time and date by placing your name in the appropriate area.

The Business Manager at St. Michael’s School is retiring at the end of the school year. The school is recruiting to find his replacement. If you know of a person that is qualified to be the Business/Operations Manager, with strong accounting skills and knowledge of QuickBooks, please have them get in touch with the school.

Bake Sale Time


Dear Ladies,

The ECW will be having one of their famous “CASSEROLE AND BAKE SALE” after all of the morning Masses THIS SUNDAY. We need your help to make this sale this best ever.

We would love your donations of: cakes, pies, bread or other goodies.  A casserole would also be more than welcome.

St. Michael's has some the best cooks ever and we are looking forward to your delicious donation.  Simply take your donation to the Parish Center THIS SUNDAY and of course purchase a treat to take home.  Be sure and ask for the recipe.

Casa Maria This Friday!


Casa Maria sandwich making is this Friday, March 8th in the Parish Center. Come join us!  Kitchen opens at 5 PM. Come anytime after that! Please bring 1 or 2 dozen peeled eggs.

Note to parents: Casa Maria is community service for students! We can sign their forms!
                           
Please bring medium sized boxes for transporting the lunches.  Fruit boxes with handles from Costco or banana boxes are ideal.

Annoucements through March 10th

√ Reminder (using Fr. Smith’s recent computer metaphor): Collections of
staples for St. Michael’s Food Pantry and shoes for the Deacon’s Shoebox
(for families in Mexico) are always running in the background.” Bring items
anytime.

TAIZE MEDITATION PRAYER SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE THIS
TUESDAY, MARCH 5 AT 6:45 PM IN CHURCH. ALL ARE INVITED.

√ Join the St. Michael’s team at TIHAN. Basic volunteer
training is at Grace st. Paul’s on Tuesday, March 12 from
 1- 5:30 PM. Cost is $17. This is the basic course for the 70
volunteer jobs at TIHAN. Speakers include our own Jon
Rinnander, Call 299-6647 and ask for Katie to receive the
registration forms.

 HELP SERVE THE “POZ CAFÉ MEAL ON MARCH 21ST.
There are volunteer sheets to sign in the back of church. Please leave
your name and phone number. You will be contacted for further
information and any questions you might have will be addressed.
This is a wonderful Lenten service for those less fortunate and a way to put into
action…..your FAITH.

√ Next Sunday, March 10th at coffee hours we will assemble migrant food
packs for Tucson Samaritans to give to travelers in distress in the desert.
Social Action Committee is buying supplies in bulk – more economical,
and everyone can keep the focus on bringing toiletries TIHAN (Tucson
Interfaith HIV-AIDS Network) If you would like to bring supplies for
Samaritans as well, March 10 ONLY, socks suitable for desert walking
are always needed, as are gallon jugs of water, pull top cans of chili or
begins for separate distribution, and pouches of refried beans (at Food
City). Jim S., Margie K. and Ila A. are Samaritans volunteers. Note:
You don’t have to have a final opinion about immigration in order to feed
the hungry or give a cold cup of water to a stranger.

√ TIHAN COLLECTION OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS FOR AROUND 80
PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS!
St. Michaels is sponsoring “Poz Café” on the 21h of March. We
are collecting toiletries to be handed out at the end of the meal.
We are looking for 80 donations of Shampoo, 80 donations of
Conditioner and 80 donations of deodorant. Regular or large sizes are
preferred. If you are able to help, there is the gold “treasure chest” in the
back of church where you may place your gifts. Gifts of toiletries and cash
 (or checks) may also be brought to the parish office up until Sunday, March 17th.
