As most parishioners know, the Reverend John Clinton Fowler, the founding rector of this parish, passed away on the morning of Saturday, March 19th, following a heart attack. A special service commemorating Father Fowler’s life and contributions will be announced at a future date. If you have a special memory of Father Fowler to share, please write it up and submit it to church@stmichael.net or the church office.

Notes from the Parish Office
Received word today that Fr. Fowler (the founding Rector of St. Michaels) suffered a heart attack last Friday and is in intensive care. He has contracted pneumonia and is in critical condition. Please keep him in your prayers.
The ECW meeting this Wednesday at 10:30 am will be held in the church due to the Book Fair in the Parish Center. We hope you will bring a friend and join us to hear the speaker from Pima Council of Aging and what services they provide.
The “Business of God Luncheon” takes place this coming Monday, March 21 at 11:30 AM in the Parish Center. The speaker will be Dr. Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski. The title of his presentation is: “ Holy Women, Holy Men: Looking at the New Calendar of Saints.” The luncheon is sponsored by The Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) and is catered by Enjoy Cooking. The lunch is $15 per person ~ reservations may be made by calling the church office no later than noon this Friday. All are welcome.
“Conversations” ~ What brought you to St. Michael’s? ~ Where are you in your spiritual journey? ~ what are your hopes for the future? Join us Sunday, March 20, 27 and April 3 and 10 in the school art room at 9AM! All are welcome and urged to attend these lively Conversations. †

Events This Week and Beyond!
√Remember - The Lenten Soup Supper and Discussions, led by Jon Rinnander, begin tonight at 6PM in the Parish Center. THIS MONDAY begins the Monday evening series during Lent for “Beacons in the Darkness: Spiritual leaders of the modern age.” The evening will begin with Mass at 5:30 pm followed with a simple soup supper and a study group in the Parish Center at 6-7:15 PM. The dates are: March 14, 21, 28 and April 4 and 11. All are welcome and urged to attend!

Announcement: "Encountering Brueggermann"
Encountering Brueggemann: Journey to the Common Good, Sundays, March 20 and 27, 12:30 – 2:00 pm, East Gallery, St Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church.
Join Rev. Leah Sandwell-Weiss, Suzanne Hesh, and Genevieve Padilla for a two-part series at to discuss Prof. Walter Brueggemann’s most recent book, Journey to the Common Good (Westminster John Knox Press 2010). Dr. Brueggemann is today's preeminent Old Testament scholar. He asks, "Why is the narrative of Pharaoh, exploitation, anxiety, scarcity and fear, alive and well in today’s society?" Dr. Brueggemann states that when we live in a system of anxiety and fear - the fear of not having - it depletes us of the time and energy to see ourselves as neighbors and work toward a common good. Join us as we read, pray, critically reflect, and imagine an alternative to scarcity: abundance, neighborhood, and a commitment to the common good.
Participants should attend both sessions, bring their Bibles, and bring lunch. Please purchase the book prior to class; it is available for online or for purchase at the St. Philip's Little Shop while supplies last. If you have not attended St. Michael’s Meditation Group that meets on Saturdays after the 8:30 AM Mass, OR you have not attended the “Taize Prayer Service” on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:45 pm, you have missed two excellent opportunities for meditation. Try them; you’ll be glad you did.
