Announcements for Week Ending May 6th, 2013

boiled eggCasa Maria - JUST A REMINDER! Casa Maria is this Friday, May 3 in the Parish Center. We need eggs! Hard boiled, that is! We have another Casa Maria this month on Friday May 31st. We will not have eggs from the school or student volunteers until September. We need your help - bring a friend to the cool Parish Center!

Send-Off Celebration for Guatemala Project Teams May 18th with writer Byrd Baylor (it’s a tradition!) in the Parish Center. Workshops and half-price textile market 5 PM, meal and reading 6 PM. Details to follow.

You are needed! for Guatemala Project’s first-ever early delegation ~ June 4 – 12. We’d like 2 to 4 more people from St. Michael’s to join Fr. Smith and Ila A. and folks from other groups and congregations. A great introduction to what we do (and have done for 20 years) and why we do it. Contact coordinator Ila for details, or look for information at the back of church.

Ascension Day ~ May 9, 2013, 6:30 PM Mass and Pot Luck. Bring a tasty dish to share and join us with friends, fellowship and good food. Sign up sheets in back of church.

Fill a Bag for Mom. Sunday, May 12, is Mother’s Day. Join us and celebrate the day by donating a bag of groceries for the needy in honor of, or in memory of, your mother. Please bring your filled bags to church on May 12. The food is used to stock our Food Pantry, which is woefully low at this time, and help with stocking the pantry for the summer. The ushers are handing out bags and instructions today and next Sunday. We thank you for your continued generosity.

ECW Updates:

Dear Ladies of St. Michael's,
  • Last call for ECW dues. We are ready to go to press with the newest ECW Directory. It won’t be complete without you  It’s not too late for your dues of $15 to be included in our latest directory.
  • Don’t miss our next ECW meeting, May 15th at 10:30 am in the Parish Center. Our featured speaker will be our own Alice Miller. Alice will be telling of her experiences as a Navy nurse in World War II. Join us for friendship, fellowship and listening to the adventures of Alice.
  • Another reminder: The next ECW Casserole and Bake Sale is scheduled for Sunday, May 19th. Put on your aprons, and get ready to make your favorite casserole or dessert and donate it to a good cause. Recipes are always welcome with your donation. As an added attraction, there are always some books for sale (or bring yours) for your summer reading enjoyment. The sale is after all the morning masses.
