Taize Prayer service continues this Tuesday at 6:45 PM and continues each 1^st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Mediation Group meets at 9:15 am each Saturday in the Parish Hall.

Sunday Lectionary Bible Study continues each Wednesday at 10 am and 6:30 pm in the Womble Library.

Women’s World Day of Prayer ~ this Saturday at 9 AM at the First Christian Church on the corner of Speedway and Euclid. The women of Chile wrote this year’s litany. Men and women ~ all are welcome.

Reminder ~ “Sunday Brunch” this Sunday after all morning Masses.

Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper ~ Tuesday, March 8th at 6PM in the Parish Center.

Ash Wednesday Service and Distribution of Ashes ~ March 9 at 7PM.

Did you lose your heart? ~a heart shaped pin was found after the 10:15 AM Mass on February 27th. Inquire in church office.

Announcements for February 2011

If you have not attended St. Michael’s Meditation Group that meets on Saturdays after the 8:30 AM Mass, OR you have not attended the “Taize Prayer Service” on the first and third Tuesday of the month at 6:45 pm, you have missed two excellent opportunities for meditation. Try them; you’ll be glad you did.

Don’t forget Casa Maria sandwich making next Friday, February 11th at 6:00 pm.

• Kitchen opens at 5pm; come anytime after that!
• Please bring 1 OR 2 dozen peeled eggs if you can
• We need medium sized boxes for transporting the lunches.
• Fruit boxes from Costco or banana boxes are ideal.
• COME join the fun! BRING FRIENDS!!

The Knitters and Quilters will meet Saturday, February 12th at 11 AM.

Barnabas Friendship Fellowship Luncheons resume Monday, February 28th at 11:30 am in the Parish Center. Catered by “Enjoy Cooking”.

There will be NO “Sunday Brunch” this month – instead – Sunday, March 6, 2011 - is the “Fat Sunday” Brunch. This will be the last Sunday before the beginning of Lent on Ash Wednesday.

A Message from Father Smith re Gabrielle Giffords

Dear Friends:  Terri called me this morning after I visited TMC and told me about the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords and many others.  I share your shock at this tragedy so close to home.  Let us pray for the repose of the souls of all those who lost their lives this morning and for their families, as well as those wounded by the attacker.  Violent acts are never a solution to any of our problems.  At Meditation group this morning we had a guest monk from our local Buddhist community.  He talked of peace beginning within each of us and expanding out to others and the need to not let anything or anyone take away this peace.  At this point the news appears optimistic for Gabby.  Terri and I will continue to join you all in our prayers.  Peace and Love,  John+

In response to the Saturday tragedy, St. Michael’s Parish, St. Michael’s Parish Day School and all interested people are invited to walk “The Labyrinth” and begin the healing process of the nation. The meditation will begin at 10:30 am this Saturday and continue until further notice.

PHILIPS IN THE HILLS CHURCH – “Murphey Gallery” on Sunday, January 9, 2011.  Reception January 9^th from 2 – 4 pm with refreshments.  Exhibit continues through February 2, 2011
